88" or 100" Off-Road Challenge / Trialer Spaceframe

As more people are using standard bodied 90 Truck Cabs, Hard Tops and Tray backs and are finding there are certain limitations with their tall slab sided bodies with having to protect expensive standard body panels with extra tube work. We have developed the lightweight new tubular space frame to cope with the ever increasing demands for challenge and trials type vehicles.

We have purposely stayed away from the heavy chassis of the LR90 and have used the discovery as the donor vehicle making it cheaper and more readily available. Simply unbolt the standard Discovery body, save the pedal box and steering column, then by removing the fuel tank you are ready to fit our space frame. This can be done without even removing the engine, gear box or prop shafts etc (100" version only).

The space frames are available as a flat pack kit, all of the components are cut to length, pre-notched and bent ready to assemble and weld. The front hoop comes with outriggers pre-welded for ease of assembly. The space frame has been designed to minimise weight and simplify the build but still keep its strength. The standard frame is made from 48.4mm 3.2mm wall thickness BS1387 tube, known as blue band. We also offer the same kit in CDS 50mm x 2.6mm tube.

We have an 88" version pre-production 3.9 V8 demonstrator which has already won it’s class in CCV trials and recently completed the Snake Pit Challenge event in Southern Ireland without problem having cleared 22 sections in two days.

• Defender radiator mounted behind engine over gear box so it never gets blocked with mud.
• Allows minimum overhang on front for winch mounting.
• Cages are angled inward to give maximum clearance on side slopes.
• Body is only 60½" wide.
• Top of cage is only 57½" wide.
• Simple minimal panelling is required.
• 100" frame in CDS complete with outriggers on weighs 118kg

We do offer a while you wait same day fitting service, we recommend either come and collect the fully welded frame for you to weld onto your chassis.
